Why the Slinfold Neighbourhood Plan Needs to be Updated

The Slinfold Neighbourhood Plan, adopted in 2018, has played an essential role in shaping development in our parish. However, it is now time to review and update the Plan to ensure it remains relevant and effective in guiding the future of Slinfold.

Since the Plan’s adoption, there have been significant changes in national planning policy, particularly with the publication of the updated National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF). These changes impact the way local plans and neighbourhood plans are developed, and the Slinfold Neighbourhood Plan must be aligned with these new requirements to remain robust.

Additionally, Horsham District Council is in the process of updating its Local Plan, which could lead to changes in housing targets, development strategies, and other policies that may affect Slinfold. An updated Neighbourhood Plan will ensure that our local priorities are reflected in this evolving planning landscape and that Slinfold continues to have a voice in how development is managed within the parish.

Updating the Neighbourhood Plan will allow us to address emerging issues, review local housing needs, and ensure that the community’s vision for Slinfold is upheld in light of new national and local policy frameworks. This is an important step to continue protecting the character of our parish while accommodating necessary growth.

We encourage all residents to engage in the review process, ensuring the updated plan reflects the values and priorities of our community.

Questionnaire

At the May 2025 Parish AGM the details of the next steps for the Parish Neighbourhood Plan were discussed in the first public consultation.  Part of the process is to review the 2018 Plan and see what went well and not so well.

A questionnaire on how well the Plan achieved its Objectives lets you score this and copies can be downloaded here or hard copies available in the Village shop that can be completed and left at the shop.

Alternatively, completed forms can be sent in to neighbourhood.plan@slinfold-pc.gov.uk  or any other comments you may have on the Plan.

The survey will run to 21st June.  Have your say!
